DELFT BLUE SKITTLE GARNITURE

Unbreakable Delftware.

This very special garniture is an authentic copy as well as a decorative, unbreakable and safe toy.

A garniture is a set of vases placed on top of a cabinet for display. Such sets comprise an uneven number of alternate pots and beaker vases. The middle one was always a pot with a cover. Originally garnitures were altar vases imported from China, but in the seventeenth century Delft craftsmen started to copy them, like they copied other popular blue and white porcelayn from China. At first the Dutch products were decorated with Chinese motifs, but Delft craftsmen later introduced their own designs giving the vases a much more European look.

Each set consists of one pot with cover, two beaker vases and one ball in a transparant plastic bag with a zipper.
