Delft blue angel

Delft blue angels were made as early as the 18th century. Early examples imitated images of the goddess of Fame, who is often shown blowing a trumpet. Delft potters were probably inspired by the figure of Fame that features in the funerary monument of William of Orange in the Nieuwe Kerk, Delft.
This paper angel does not hold a trumpet, but her decoration is typical of authentic Delftware.
